Independent content distributor GoQuest Media Ventures will be showcasing Zakariya Mohammed’s award-winning debut Malayalam feature Sudani From Nigeria at Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) 2019. GoQuest Media Ventures who owns all the media rights for China including theatrical, TV and digital rights will be offering the multi award winning comedy-drama to Chinese buyers at this year’s film festival.
Selected under the Global Village – India Film Week Category by SIFF, Sudani From Nigeria received critical and audience acclaim, winning five awards at the 49th Kerala State Film Awards including Best Screenplay, Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value, Best Debut Director, Best Actor (Soubin Shahir) and Best Character Actress (Savithri Sreedharan, Sarasa Balussery), Best Film at the 21st Asianet Film Awards, the Audience Choice Award at the Hero and Time International Film Festival 2019, Russia and Best Movie Award at the Asian Vision Movie Awards, Dubai 2019. The film was also part of the official selection at The Indian Film Festival of Cincinnati 2018 (Indian Film), Jerusalem International Film Festival (World Cinema) and Dhaka International Film Festival 2019 (Cinema of the World).
Produced by Sameer Thahir and Shyju Khalid from Happy Hours Entertainments, Sudani from Nigeria is an Indian Malayalam language comedy-drama film written and directed by Zakariya Mohammed. The film stars Soubin Shahir (Parava) and Nigerian actor Samuel Abiola Robinson (Desperate Housewives Africa), Aneesh G Menon, Savithri Sreedharan and Sarasa Balussery.
